The Traffic Circle

India is just as I remembered it, and completely different. It is still the tenth century, and it is also the twenty-first century, all superimposed at the same time, like two freight trains crashing into each other at a hundred miles per hour, in every moment, in every heartbeat.

One travels down the avenue in a rickshaw, navigating a dense and noisy traffic onslaught of brightly colored trucks, cars, motor bikes, bicycles, pedestrians, oxen and goats, all flowing together within intricate patterns of motion far more complex than any western thoroughfare……and they all have cell phones (except for the oxen and goats).
